Did you know that one of the nation’s most historic attempts at creating a utopian society was in Indiana? You may have seen the movie "Hoosiers" but do you know the real story behind the Hollywood version? And did you realize that most of the great buildings and monuments in our nation’s capital were built with Indiana limestone?
The Hoosier state has a historical and cultural history rich in tradition and diversity. Present Indiana is a final step in a three-part effort to familiarize Wabash faculty, staff and students with the Hoosier state.
Wabash students, working with faculty and staff mentors, will develop and deliver a series of modules that will compose a curriculum focused on Indiana’s culture. During the summer of 2005, 10 Wabash men created the first Present Indiana projects.
These video and PowerPoint presentations will be made available to a variety of audiences who will benefit from an introduction to the rich heritage and opportunities associated with living, studying and working in Indiana.
The links above right will allow you to see a summary of each project. The summaries include links that will help you learn more on each topic.
Present Indiana will serve audiences that include international students studying in Indiana, elementary and middle school students, personnel directors and small business leaders, newly relocated employees to the area, as well as new faculty and staff at Wabash College.
Present Indiana is part of a Lilly Endowment grant.
