Simkus Scores Sixth Goal In Seven Days

For the third straight game the winning team in the Wabash soccer match posted four goals. Unfortunately for the Little Giants, it was the second consecutive match lost by a final score of 4-1, this time to Millikin University on Wednesday evening.

The Big Blue scored early when Roo Cudone hit his first of three goals in the match in the third minute. Twenty-two minutes later Cudone picked up his second goal on an assist from David Oberst. Less than two minutes would pass before the duo of Oberst and Cudone struck again to put Millikin in front 3-0.

Gary Simkus, the North Coast Athletic Conference Men’s Soccer Player of the Week, took a corner kick from Chris Serak and beat Big Blue goalie Bruce Janek to trim the lead to 3-1. Neither team would score again until late in the match when Millikin added a final goal for the 4-1 victory.

Wabash returns home this weekend for a Saturday match at 11 a.m. against Hope College.
