Russell Shoots 149, Ties For Fourth In First College Golf Match

Sam Russell certainly didn't seem to feel any pressure in his first college golf match. The freshman opened with a round of 74, then followed with a 75 on the second day of the 2006 DePauw Small College Classic to finish in a three-way tie for fourth place. The Little Giants were fifth out of eight teams for the event.

Russell finished seven-over, just five strokes off the total shot by Justin Ridge and Bradley Sutherland. Sophomore Jordan Vice finished tied for 19th (79-76--155), while Bryan Arnold tied for 33rd (81-82--163) with teammate JP Manalo (80-83--163).

Freshman Kyle Nagdeman completed the scoring with a 170 (86-84, 40th place).

Transylvania took the team competition with a total score of 599. DePauw (602), Franklin (609), Anderson (627) and Wabash (630) rounded out the top-five team scores.
