Soccer Prepares for DePauw, NCAC Opener

Wabash will start the conference portion of its 2006 season with a fresh start after one more non-league match against arch-rival DePauw Wednesday afternoon. The Little Giants fell 4-0 to Hope Saturday afternoon.

The Little Giants managed only one shot on goal in the contest when freshman Luis Quiroga sent a ball toward the net late in the match. Wabash missed on an opportunity eary in the first period after the Flying Dutchmen had taken a 1-0 lead. Chris Serak lifted a shot toward the goal that slammed off the post.

Hope posted 19 shots and 12 shots on goal. Matt McClain and Jon Miller combined for eight saves in the contest. Wabash had just six shots in the match.

After a 3 p.m. match at DePauw Wednesday afternoon, the Little Giants return to Mud Hollow Field for an 11 a.m. contest against Kenyon to being North Coast Athletic Conference play.
