Junior wide receiver Mike Russell has been named the North Coast Athletic Conference Offensive Player of the Week for the period ending September 16, 2006.
The Terre Haute North High School graduate earned the honor for his performance in the Wabash football team's 38-31 victory over Millikin University Saturday afternoon. Russell caught five passes in the contest, setting personal single-game highs for receiving yards (144) and touchdowns (2). He scored the first touchdown of the game for the Little Giants, catching a pass and outracing the Millikin defense for an 80-yard score, also the longest of his career. Russell later added an 11-yard touchdown catch in the second period.
