Wabash Loses Giant-Engineer Trophy Match

The Wabash golf team was unable to take back the Giant-Engineer Trophy as Rose-Hulman defeated the Little Giants 6-0 in the annual match play event.

In individual play Joe Mills (Lafayette, IN/Central Catholic) was defeated by Rose's Jeremy Roehm five and four. Adam Berry (Evansville, IN/Reitz Memorial) lost a five and four match to Corey Trobaugh. Rob McCourt (Greenwood, IN/Greenwood) fell in his match against Adam Summerlot two and one. Travis Daugherty (Elwood, IN/Elwood) lost four and three to Micah Beaver of Rose.

In team play James Lisher (Shelbyville, IN/Indiana Academy) and Chris Miltenberger (West Chester, OH/Lakota West) lost four and three to Rose-Hulman. Mike Charbonneau (Valparaiso, IN/Valparaiso) and Nick Roersma (Grand Rapids, MI/Northview) lost five and four to Rose.

In preparing for the match, Berry recorded a hole-in-one at the Crawfordsville Country Club during a practice round on Monday. The freshman used a nine-iron on the 141-yard par three hole. The shot was witnessed by his teammates McCourt, Mills, and Daugherty. Coach Joe Bevelhimer and his group of Lisher and Charbonneau also witnessed the shot.

The Little Giant golf team will travel to Ohio Wesleyan for the Strimer Invitational to be held Friday and Saturday at the Oakhaven Golf Course in Delaware, Ohio.
