He was also an outstanding tennis player at Wabash, and is fifth in career singles victories with 46. Seward was killed in an automobile accident in January of 1984.

Petty is the winningest coach in Wabash history with a record of 416-336 while entering his 31st season at Wabash. He led the Little Giants to the national title in 1982, earning National Coach of the Year honors. His overall record of 450-351 places him among the top-20 active DIII coaches in terms of victories. He graduated from the University of Tennessee in 1968, helping the Volunteers to the 1967 SEC title. He began his college coaching career at the University of the South in Sewanee, Tennessee before coming to Wabash in 1976. Petty also serves as the head golf coach at Wabash.

Petty, Metzelaars, and Seward join Andra Harshbarger Hudson, Kim Long, Paula French, Clint Dennison, Gary Rice, Eric Froedge, Mark Hesser, Max Mercer, Hal Shelton, and Chuck Kristen as 2006 inductees. The ceremony is set for 1 p.m. at the Athena Center Gymnasium.
