A season-best effort by the Wabash cross country team led to a third place finish at Saturday’s Manchester College Invitational.
Sophomore Sam Compton-Craig smashed his personal best effort to finish second in the individual competition. The Tipton, Indiana native toured the course in 25:42, finishing 21 seconds behind Cornerstone University’s Derek Scott. Senior Dennis Frazee ran his best time of the year in the 8,000 meters, finishing eighth overall with a time of 25:56.
Matt Maher was 13th overall, crossing the line in 26:30. Geoff Lambert also posted a personal-best time of 26:46, finishing 17th. Freshman Micah Milliman was 21st (26:50), while Hugh Jackson with a 34th-place finish (27:20).
Wabash scored 60 points in the team competition, trailing only Cornerstone (49 points) and Tri-State University (56 points).
The Little Giants will return to action October 28 at the North Coast Athletic Conference Championship Meet, hosted by Earlham College.
