Wabash Tankers Mount Back-to-Back Wins

Friday night the Little Giants ran away with a double-dual meet. Saturday the swimming and diving team picked up key points in the closing events, including a win in the final 400 free relay for a 109-96 victory at Carthage Saturday afternoon.

The quartet of Philip Towne, Nick Rockefeller, Robert Fozkos, and Jordon Blackwell finished nearly ten seconds ahead of the rest of the field in the final event, touching first in 3:17.83 to pick up 11 points and lead Wabash to the team win.

Wabash opened the meet with a victory in the 200 medley relay. Tony Cadwell, Robert Dent, Kyle Weaver, and Blaine Cooper-Surma won the race with a time of 1:38.83.

Weaver picked up nine more team points on his own in the 50 free, winning the event with a time of 22.25. Fozkos finished third, touching in 22.77. Fozkos added another third place finish in the 200 butterfly (2:06.64), trailing teammate Adam Petro and his winning time of 1:59.24.

Blackwell added a win in the 100 free (48.02) and a second in the 200 free, finishing in 1:46.83. Towne was third in the 100 free (49.76).

Caldwell and Pat Laughlin took the top two spots in the 200 backstroke. Caldwell won the event with a time of 2:01.13, with Laughlin just behind in second at 2:03.33.

Elijah Sanders came back from a good effort Friday night with two good swims in the distance events. He finished second in the 1000-yard free with a time of 10:11.26 before returning for another second place finish in the 500 free (5:00.68). Teammate Craig Vetor was third in the 500 (5:04.93).

The Little Giants will return to the Class of 1950 Natatorium Friday evening for a dual meet against DePauw at 7 p.m.
