Wabash swept the top two spots in the opening 400-yard medley relay Saturday afternoon and never looked back, handing Rose-Hulman a 153-89 defeat in Terre Haute.
The victory is the fifth-straigh dual meet win for Wabash to open the season, and comes off the heels of a huge Friday night win against DePauw.
The team of Peter Hewitt, Robert Dent, Kyle Weaver, and Robert Fozkos started the afternoon off on a good note, winning the 400 medley relay with a time of 3:49.10. The Little Giants also took second place behind the efforts of Adam Petro, Jim Leuck, Pat Laughlin, and Jordan Extine. The quartet finished in 3:58.68.
Freshman Craig Vetor took the top spot in the first individual race, the 1000-meter free. He won with a time of 10:34.01, just ahead of teammate Kyle O'Keefe in second (10:50.52). Vetor added another first in the 500 free (5:02.10), while Jordon Blackwell took second (5:07.78).
Dent added two individual first place finishes. He won the 200 breaststroke with a time of 2:22.67. The Little Giants swept the event as Barron Hewetson took second (2:30.13) and Leuck finished third (2:33.90). Dent was also the top finisher in the 200 individual medley (2:06.58).
Hewitt took first place in the 200 backstroke with a winning time of 2:07.84. Elijah Sanders was second (2:09.61). Blaine Cooper-Surma touched first in the 100 freestyle (49.73) for the final first place points of the swimming portion of the event.
Diver Rob Fenoglio swept the top spot on both boards. The sophomore won the one-meter competition with a total of 198.60 points. Tom Schiltz was second with a score of 186.10. Fenoglio had the top score on the three-meter board (190.30), as well.
Wabash returns to action Friday evening at 7 p.m. when the Little Giants travel to Springfield, Ohio to compete against Wittenberg University.
