Four Wabash soccer players have been named to the 2006 All-North Coast Athletic Conference Men’s Soccer Team.
Junior midfielder Gary Simkus was a Second Team All-Conference selection for the second year in a row. He led the Little Giants in scoring for the third consecutive year with nine goals and a total of 19 points. He also had one assist. Simkus was second in the NCAC in total points per game, averaging 1.12 in 17 contests. He led the league in goals per game (0.53) and was second in total goals and tied for second in game-winning goals (3).
Sophomore forward George Padgitt was named to the All-NCAC Second Team as well. He was second in scoring for Wabash with 13 points, booting six goals and one assist. Padgitt, a Honorable Mention All-NCAC selection as a freshman, was the best among the Little Giant players in shot percentage, scoring on 21 percent of his shot attempts.
Newcomers Luis Quiroga and Jonathon Funston were named to the Honorable Mention All-Conference team. Quiroga, a freshman midfielder from LaPaz, Bolivia, picked up one goal in 16 games for Wabash. Funston, a sophomore defender who transferred to Wabash from Purdue University, started all but one game for the Little Giants, dishing out two assists.
