Root Sets Wabash Record with 9-for-9 Performance

Sophomore guard Andy Root rewrote the Wabash record book Sunday afternoon, hitting
nine out of nine three-point attempts in the Little Giants' game against Hiram.

Root's perfect day from behind the three-point arc broke the single-game record set
by Karl Kercheval '94 in 1992. Kercheval connected on six out of seven
three-pointers in that contest. Root also tied Josh Estelle's school record of nine
three-pointers in a single game. Estelle '00, the all-time leading scorer in Wabash
basketball history, drilled nine three's on two different occasions against the
College of Wooster as a senior.

Root's shooting performance tied the North Coast Athletic Conference mark for
three-point field goal percentage in a game, joining three former NCAC players who
each connected on six three's in a contest. The conference record for three-point
baskets in a game is held by Travis Brett of Earlham with 10.

Root is averaging 9.5 points per contest, but has reached double figures in scoring
in each of the past four games. His 27-point effort Sunday against the Terriers is a
career best. He and his Little Giant teammates will play Ohio Wesleyan University at
7:30 p.m. Wednesday evening at Chadwick Court.
