Little Giant Grapplers Take Down Tri-State

A late pin by Keith Garrard at 197 pounds led the Wabash wrestling team to a 24-14 victory over Tri-State University Wednesday night at Yorktown High School.

Eric Slabaugh posted the first team points for the Little Giants with a 5-2 win at 133 pounds over Bryan Wight. Pino followed with a dominating performance at 141 pounds, taking a 16-4 victory over Ryan Lineberry to earn four team points for Wabash, giving the Little Giants a 7-3 lead.

After Tri-State evened the match at 7-7, Stephen Mosier responded with a 7-2 win at 157 pounds. The lead was short-lived as the Thunder took the lead on a major decision at 165 pounds and a victory in the 174-pound weight class.

Will Clarke tied the score at 14-14 with a 17-7 major decision in his 184-pound bout against Louis Posa. That set the table for Garrard, who needed only two minutes to record a pin against Mike Tees. Heavyweight Rob Arnett sealed the victory, winning 13-4 over Justin Talkington.

The Little Giants head to Manchester College this weekend for the annual Manchester Spartan Classic.
