The Winter issue of Wabash Magazine will be a celebration of California’s Wabash men and a summer 2006 road trip through the Bay Area.
"Road Trip California," set to be published around March 1, is the culmination of a two-week California visit by web editor Howard W. Hewitt. In addition to the magazine’s release, a reception for Bay Area alumni will be held at 7 p.m. March 2, at the John Pence Gallery in San Francisco. Pence is a 1958 Wabash College graduate and will be featured in the forthcoming magazine.
The reception will be highlighted by the first west coast appearance of new president Patrick E. White and his wife, Chris.
Hewitt traveled to California for two weeks in June 2006 and visited nine College alumni. His stories of Wabash men spanning five decades will appear in the magazine and on the College’s website. It marks the first extensive collaborative effort of content shared by the magazine and web. While all nine alums will be featured in the magazine, some of the full profiles will be on the website only.
"It really was an overwhelming experience to hear the gratitude of the Wabash men I visited," Hewitt said. "They were impressed and pleased we came just to tell their story. And the stories they have to share are fascinating, inspiring, and entertaining – exactly what you’d expect from successful Wabash men."
President White will visit Los Angeles, February 27, for a private reception and then make his way to San Francisco. Hewitt and Wabash Magazine editor Steve Charles will be on hand for the Friday reception at the John Pence Gallery.
Invitations have been mailed to Bay Area alumni for the cocktail and hors d’oeuvres reception. Anyone interested in attending or wanting more information may contact Heather Bazzani by email or by phone at 765-361-6360.
