Lambert Breaks 800-meter Record at DePauw Indoor Invite

A record-setting effort by junior All-American Geoff Lambert helped Wabash finish 10th out of 23 teams at Saturday's DePauw Indoor Invitational.

Lambert set a new meet record while winning the 800-meter run. He crossed the finish line in 1:54.61, nearly a second faster than the old meet mark of 1:55.13 set back in 2002. Senior Nathan Bates was also part of a very fast group of 800-meter runners, finishing third overall with a time of 1:56.40

Sprinter Mike Russell was ninth in the 200-meter dash with a time of 23.00. Sophomore Hugh Jackson finished eighth in the mile run (4:30.76) and 12th in the 3,000 (9:11.76). Teammate Micah Milliman was right behind Jackson in the 3,000, finishing fourth with a time of 9:14.13. Dennis Frazee was 10th in the 5,000-meter run (15:46.22).

Senior Ben Tritle took ninth in the shot put with a mark of 45-9.75.

Freshman Emmanuel Aouad took ninth place in the 55-meter hurdles, just missing a spot in the finals after posting a preliminary time of 8.10.

The Little Giants were second in the 4 x 400-meter relay (3:25.90) and third in the distance medley relay (11:03.81).

The team returns to action this Saturday at the Wabash Indoor Invitational set to begin at noon in the Knowling Fieldhouse.
