Geoff Lambert and Nathan Bates competed over the weekend at the Ohio Northern Friday Night Series Meet #5 and the Rick Meindl Last Call Meet at Capital University on Saturday. The two Wabash athletes made the most of their final efforts of the season before next weekend's North Coast Athletic Conference Indoor Championship Meet.
The pair took first and second at Friday night's meet in the 800-meter run. Lambert hit an NCAA "B" cut qualifying mark with a time of 1:54.73 to win the race. Bates took second with a time of 1:55.34. Lambert had already qualified with a "B" cut time for the 800 with a time of 1:53.60 in the opening meet of the season against Rose-Hulman.
Saturday the duo finished first and second in the 800, both bettering their times from Friday night. Lambert won the event with another "B" cut time of 1:53.78, setting a new Capital Center Fieldhouse record. Bates was second, also hitting a "B" cut time of 1:54.92. His time was also faster than the previous Capital Center record.
Wabash will compete in the NCAC Indoor Championships this weekend at Denison University.
