Wabash College alumnus Steve Hunt ’76 as plenty of reasons to be both nervous and proud this week. That's because his daughter, Leslie, is one of 10 women finalists on American Idol.
The 24-year-old native of Chicago advanced through last week's round of cuts and performed Wednesday night before a live audience and estimated television audience of more than 30 million viewers. Contestants had to sing songs of dedication during this week's round, and Leslie dedicated her performance to her grandfather.
Two of the 12 women finalists were eliminated last week.

To advance through the competition on America's hottest television program, contestants rely on the votes of viewers. Voting began immediately after Wednesday's round concluded and continued for two hours after the show ended. The eight women who will advance to the next round will be announced live on Fox TV Thursday night.
