Ishman, Wilder Combine for First Place at Wabash Relays

Junior Caleb Ishman (Gary, IN/Emerson Visual and Performing Arts) and Derek Wilder (Columbus, IN/Columbus East) combined on Saturday to take first place in the hammer throw event at the 48th Wabash College Relays.

Ishman had the best individual throw in the competition with a distance of 139-6. His throw was combined with Wilder's throw of 118-11 to take home the blue ribbon with a total distance of 285-5.

John Crumpacker (Crawfordsville, IN/Ben Davis) and Dusan Galic (Crown Point, IN/Merrillville) took second place in the javelin throw with a combined distance of 279 feet. Crumpacker's throw of 155-1 was the best individual effort in the event.

Several other Little Giants turned in top individual performances. Freshman Zach Eichel (Columbus, IN/Columbus North) was second in the 10,000-meter run, finishing in 37:33.05. Bryan Gonzalez (Fishers, IN/Hamilton Southeastern) was third (38:00.00). Kevin Lowry (Francesville, IN/West Central) took second in the 110-meter hurdles with a final time of 16.64. Jameel Bell (Los Angeles, CA/Redondo Union) took fourth place, finishing in 17.04.

Josh Waters (Muncie, IN/Muncie Burris) had the second-best individual performance in the high jump, clearing 5-8. Dan Ruge (Chesterton, IN/Chesterton) was third in the 5,000 meters (16:19.00), as was Stan Keets (Indianapolis, IN/Broad Ripple) in the 100-meter dash (11.44).
