Track and Field Team Continues To Improve Times At Butler Relays

The Wabash track and field team participated in the Butler Relays on Saturday. While no team score was kept, several Little Giants improved their season-best performances.

Antoine Carpenter (Indianapolis, IN/Ben Davis) took seventh place in the 100 meter dash with a season-best time of 11.05. Brad Taphorn (Indianapolis, IN/Cardinal Ritter) finished in 16th place with a time of 11.52, his best time of the season.

Darren Green (Dallas, TX) grabbed sixth in the 400 meter dash with a time of 50.67, topping his best performance this year. Sean McGinley (Indianapolis, IN/Cathedral) also turned in a season-best time of 52.38 while finishing in 12th place.

Mike Vega (Lake Station, IN/Edison) completed the 5,000 meter run in 15:02.07, taking 10th place and setting a new season-best mark. Nsayel Mputubwele (West Lafayette, IN/Harrison) finished 10th in the 110 meter high hurdles with a time of 16.45. Brandon Shipp (Indianapolis, IN/Franklin Central) was sixth in the steeplechase by setting a season-best time of 9:50.67. Teammate Cary Richey (Greenwood, IN/Center Grove) was eighth, also improving his best performance of the season.

Peter DeYoung (Evansville, IN/Evansville Bosse) tied for third in the high jump, clearing 6-4 for his best jump of the year. DeYoung also took eighth place in the long jump with a season-best 19-10.25 leap. Marshall Davis (Kokomo, IN/Kokomo) and John Crumpacker (Crawfordsville, IN/Ben Davis) tied for ninth in the pole vault after clearing the bar at 14-0.
