Associate Professor of Spanish Gilberto Gomez participated in the NEH Summer Seminar "Brazilian Urban Literature" at Arizona State University. Last March he presented "La ciudad, máquina cartesiana: Memorias de un hombre feliz, de Darío Jaramillo Agudelo" at the 26th Congress of the Latin America Studies Association in San Juan, Puerto Rico. In August he presented "The burden of ‘retroprogreso’ in the historical fiction of José Antonio Osorio Lizarazo" at the 10th Congress of the Associação Brasileira de Literatura Comparada, Universidade do Estado do Rio de Janeiro. This year he continues as co-editor of the Revista de Estudios Colombianos.
