Thinclads Tune-up for Little State at Saturday's Edmunds Invite

A small group of 19 Wabash track and field athletes prepared for next week's Little State Championship meet by participating in the Gene and Rose Edmunds Invitational at St. Joseph's College Saturday afternoon.

Lincoln Smith finished second in the javelin with a throw of 157 feet, eight inches. Keegan McLaughlin was fourth with a distance of 152 feet, four inches.

Bart Banach took second in the 400-meter dash with a time of 50.93. Sam Compton-Craig finished third in the steeplechase (10:05.26). Hugh Jackson added a pair of fifth-place finishes in both the 800-meter run (2:03.00) and the 5,000-meter run (16:32.09).

Chris Vawter was fifth in the pole vault (10 feet, 11-3/4 inches), while Ben Tritle added a fifth in the shot put (44 feet, 4-3/4 inches).

Wabash was sixth in the final team scoring with 37 points, trailing Saginaw Valley (192 points). St. Joseph's (164) was second, with the University of Indianapolis (87), Ferris State (62), and Marian (38) rounded out the team scoring.
