Tennis Team Drops One-Point Loss To Huntington

The Wabash tennis team completed its regular season on Saturday, losing by one point to Huntington College 5-4.

Senior Mark Ratner (Indianapolis, IN/North Central) finished his outstanding career at Wabash with a win in straight sets (6-3, 6-1) at No. 1 singles. Ratner ended his Wabash tennis career with over forty wins in singles play in his four-year career. Little Giant freshman Scott Paramoure (Logansport, IN/Logansport) was down a set before taking the final two sets 6-1, 6-4 to win at No. 2 singles. Daniel Altman (Monticello, IN/Twin Lakes) took a 6-1, 6-2 straight-sets win at No. 4 singles for Wabash.

The final point for Wabash came from Altman and teammate Todd Witte (Grand Rapids, MI/West Catholic) at No. 3 doubles. The two combined to take an 8-6 win for the Little Giants.

The Little Giant netters finished the season with a 9-16 record. Wabash will participate in the North Coast Athletic Conference Tournament May 5-6.Huntington 5 Wabash 4

No. 2 Singles - Scott Paramoure (W) defeated Bryan McDaniel(H) 2-6, 6-1, 6-4

No. 3 Singles - Troy Sands (H) defeated Brian Miller (W) 1-6, 6-3, 6-4

No. 4 Singles - Daniel Altman (W) defeated Dean Groctzinger (H) 6-1, 6-2

No. 5 Singles - Matt Christner (H) defeated Todd Witte (W) 6-3, 7-6 (6)

No. 6 Singles - Matt Loshe (H) defeated Andrew Shelton (W) 6-4, 6-1

No. 1 Doubles - Taylor and Sands (H) defeated Ratner & Miller (W) 9-7

No. 2 Doubles - McDaniel and Christner (H) defeated Paramoure & Shelton (W) 8-1

No. 3 Doubles - Witte & Altman (W) defeated Groctzinger & Loshe 8-6
