Junior Nelson Barre took fourth place over the weekend at the 2007 North Coast Athletic Conference Multi-event Championships decathlon.
Barre scored a total of 5,153 points, the second-highest point total by a Wabash athlete at the NCAC decathlon. He improved upon his 2006 point total ( and his overall finish (fifth) from last year. Jon Haug '00 scored 5,850 points while finishing second in the 2000 event.
Barre finished second in the high jump, clearing 5 feet, 9-1/4 inches to earn 593 points. His second place finish in the 110-meter hurdles (16.52) scored 675 points toward his final total.
The junior also scored five points for the Wabash team going into this week's NCAC Outdoor Track and Field Championships at Ohio Wesleyan. The Multi-event meet kicks off the overall championship events each year. Barre will also compete in individual events this Thursday and Firday, May 3-4.
