D3Football.com Picks Wabash 22nd in Preseason Poll

Wabash will enter the 2007 season ranked 22nd in the annual D3football.com preseason poll. The Little Giants, coming off an 8-2 season in 2006 and a share of the North Coast Athletic Conference title, received a total of 103 points in voting conducted among a panel of football coaches, sports information directors, and members of the media regularly covering NCAA Division III football.

The Little Giants are the only NCAC school ranked in the top-25 preseason poll, but two of Wabash's key opponents in the upcoming season received votes from the panel. Franklin College picked up 33 total votes, while Wittenberg tallied 14 votes. Both teams combined for the victories over Wabash in 2006. Franklin won a 45-38 decision in overtime in the season opener. Wittenberg shared the 2006 NCAC conference championship with Wabash and earned the NCAA tournament berth by virtue of the Tigers' 19-17 win. Defending Division III national champion Mount Union was the top pick by the panel, receiving 625 total points and all 25 first place votes.

D3football.com's preseason poll is the third to list Wabash in the top 25. Lindy's College Football Annual ranked the Little Giants 16th in its magazine, while Street & Smith's preseason poll placed Wabash seventh. Both publications listed the Little Giants' October 13 game at home against Wittenberg as one of the key DIII games to watch in 2007.

Wabash opens the 2007 season at home against Franklin on September 8.
