Senior Blaken Wamsley (left) notched his first career goal, but it was not enough to lift Wabash past Trinity Christian College. The Trolls left Mud Hollow Field a 4-1 winner Wednesday night.
Trinity Christian's Ryan Clemens had already scored twice in the first half before Wamsley blasted his first shot of the evening into the back of the net. It would prove to be one of only two shots on goal for the Little Giants in the match, despite outshooting the Trolls 11-8. Trinity Christian added two second half goals to move to 4-4 for the season.
The Little Giants tried to keep Trinity Christian's offense pressed toward the midfield stripe. Wabash helped create 17 offsides calls against the Trolls. Trinity Christian took advantage of mistakes by the Little Giants throughout the match.
"We are still making too many mistakes," head coach Roberto Giannini said. "When we make those mistakes, our opponents always take advantage of them. It's like we're handing out Christmas presents to our opponents.
"We came out and played very hard in the second half. It was a good effort. But a couple of mistakes led to two goals for them tonight. We are as weak as our weakest link. We have to eliminate our errors."
Wabash (2-4) begins North Coast Athletic Conference play Sunday morning against Ohio Wesleyan University. The match at Mud Hollow Field begins at 11.
