An early goal by Principia proved to be too much for the Wabash soccer team to overcome. The Little Giants were shut out in 2-0 loss to the Panthers Wednesday night at Mud Hollow Field.
Wabash matched Principia shot for shot, finishing with 14 total attempts to the Panthers' 13. Principia managed to put eight of those shots on goal compared to only two for Wabash.
The first shot on goal by the Panthers led to the first goal of the match. Dana Byquist took a pass from Aaron Springston and blasted a shot into the net less than five minutes into the match. That goal would stand up throughout the rest of the half before Principia added a second by Wes Fleming on another assist from Springston.
Mark Babcock (right) and Josh Manker had the only shots on goal for the Little Giants.
Jon Miller suffered the loss, turning aside six shots.
Wabash (2-6, 0-1 NCAC) returns to North Coast Athletic Conference play Saturday morning with an 11 a.m. home match against the College of Wooster.
