Lightning Delay Can't Help Little Giants

The match was supposed to begin at 7 p.m., but the weather decided differently. The 40-minute lightning delay wasn't enough help for the Wabash soccer team Wednesday night, however. The Little Giants lost 3-0 at Transylvania University.

The Pioneers scored in the 13th minute, then added a second goal five minutes later. Transylvania's offense continued the attack throughout the match, outshooting the Little Giants 17-6 in the match. The Little Giants had two shots on goal compared to seven for Transylvania. Senior Gary Simkus had both shots on net for the Little Giants.

Jon Miller made two saves before giving way to goalkeeper Devin Moss late in the match after the Pioneers (6-1) had added the final goal in the 68th minute.

Wabash (2-8, 0-1 NCAC) returns to Mud Hollow Field Saturday for a North Coast Athletic Conference match against Denison University. The event, part of the annual Wabash Homecoming celebration, begins at 11 a.m.
