The Little Giant golf team entered the final round of Sunday's Griffin Motors Classic in Meadville, Pennsylvania eight strokes out of third place. A difficult day on the links sent the Wabash team home with seventh place. The Little Giants finished with a total of 639 strokes.
Junior Jordan Vice (left) had helped his team to a first-day total of 311 after firing an opening round 72, putting him fifth in the individual standings. Vice shot a 77 on the last day for a two-day total of 149 and a four-way tie for eighth place. Sam Russell tied for 31st with a total of 162 (75-87). Bryan Arnold finished 34 (81-83--164), while freshman Luke Moton tied for 35th (85-81--166). Kyle Nagdeman was 39th (83-90--173).
Allegheny College, the host school for the tournament, won with a score of 579. Ohio Wesleyan was second (587), while the Allegheny "B" squad took third (605). Wittenberg (614), Wooster (623), and Denison (623) rounded out the top-five team places.
The Little Giants will compete at the DePauw Invitational Saturday and Sunday.
