"Once again ye Wabash men…" The Twin Cities Association of Wabash Men served breakfast at People Serving People (PSP) the large family homeless shelter in Minneapolis.
The shelter has 300 people in residence of which two-thirds are children. It was our third year providing support to the shelter on WABASH Day.
Saturday morning began with breakfast preparation and manning the serving line until 8:45. Then we transitioned from serving crew to clean-up crew. The serving area as well as tables, chairs, and floors in the dining room were washed and sanitized. It was obvious that there was significant experience in working on a fraternity kitchen crew or for the College food service (Saga Food in my day). PSP took full advantage of that experience to get things "super clean."
Next year we hope to have some younger alumni join us. Saturday the youth movement was represented by the class of 1970! We may have arrived without a camera, but that doesn’t mean we didn’t carry away memorable pictures of young children’s smiles as they asked for another banana or just one more bowl of cereal.
