Wabash had taken a 1-0 lead when junior Mike Kaster took a pass from Jon Funston in the 39th minute, scoring his first career goal, as well. "The boys fought a splendid battle today. It was rainy, windy and cold but our spirits were high because we wanted to give our seniors a win, and the seniors themselves wanted to leave a winning stepping stone for the guys who will return to the program next fall.
" It has been an heartbreaking season at times, losing six games by a one-goal differential, and four of those games either in overtime or in the last seconds of regulation. Today, wasn't going to happen to us again. Theguys knew that and they give everything they had even after Oberlin equalized and we missed an open goal deflection with only four seconds in
the clock."
Seniors Jon Miller, Gary Simkus, Matt Potasnik, Blaken Wamsley, and Dan Storey ended their four-year careers at Wabash with a final victory on the pitch. Miller, the starting goalkeeper for the Little Giants, played all 96 minutes to earn the victory.
"Today was a great day. A day that our five seniors will remember for a long time. Today paid us back all the sacrifices, hard work, and commitment we shared for the last two and one-half months. Today is a great day and I couldn't be more proud of our Wabash men."
The Little Giants finish the 2007 campaing with a record of 4-14, 1-8 in North Coast Athletic Conference play.
