Senior linebacker Adi Pynenberg has been named the North Coast Athletic Conference Defensive Player of the Week for his efforts in the Little Giants' 21-10 victory over Wooster Saturday afternoon.
Pynenberg made 13 tackles, including eight solo stops, in the victory which secured at least a share of the 2007 NCAC title for the Little Giants. He also had 4-1/2 tackles for losses totaling 17 yards, two sacks for 11, and an interception on the final offensive drive of the game for the Scots. Pynenberg tied for the third-most tackles for losses in a game by a Wabash player, one away from breaking the record. He is also five tackles shy of breaking the Wabash career record of 400 set by Jim "Killer" Kilbane '84.
Wabash will play its final regular season home game Saturday afternoon against Denison University at 1 p.m. The Big Red's junior quarterback, Mike Barnes, was named the league's Offensive Player of the Week after accounting for 313 yards of total offense and five touchdowns in the team's 51-41 win over Kenyon. Barnes threw for 123 yards and three TDs and rushed for 190 yards and two touchdowns in the victory.
