Average Day Ends Wabash Cross Country Season

Wabash cross country coach Roger Busch knew the Little Giants were facing tough competition Saturday. Six of the teams competing at the NCAA Great Lakes Regional in Grand Rapids, Michigan were ranked nationally. He hoped for a strong effort, but unfortunately the Little Giants found themselves 12th out of 34 teams.

"We had an average day," Busch said. "I thought going into the week we could finish anywhere between sixth and 12th based on the competition. I also thought with a good race we could put one or two runners into the national meet. We ran OK, but certainly didn't post the times we're capable of. We ran hard against some of the best Division III runners in the nation."

Freshman Seth Einterz posted the best finish for the Little Giants, taking 34th place with a time of 25:57.70. Sam Compton-Craig was 62nd (26:26.95) while senior Ben Bly finished 72nd in his final collegiate competition with a time of 26:35.25.

Geoff Lambert was right behind in 73rd (26:36.05). Hugh Jackson finished 92nd (26:44.70), while Justin Allen (134th, 27:22.95) and Sam Prellwitz (217th, 30:20.60) rounded out the final team results.
