Despite two overtime sudden victories by the Wabash wrestling team Tuesday night, the Little Giants came up one point short in a 17-16 loss at the University of Chicago.
Junior Rob Arnett (left) went two overtime periods before picking up a 2-1 win over Ryan Hatten at heavyweight. Fellow junior Jared Tribbett (below right) scored a 7-5 sudden victory in the first extra period of his 157-pound match to score three points for the Little Giant team.
Keith Closson started with a 10-0 victory at 125 pounds to score a major victory. The Maroons answered with major victories at 133 and 165 pounds in addition to wins at 133, 144, 149, and 174 pounds.
Michael Burke scored a 9-3 win a 184 pounds for Wabash. Cody Johnson added a 7-4 victory at 197 pounds to complete the competition.
Wabash (0-2) will participate in the annual Indiana Little State Wrestling Championships December 7-8 at the University of Indianapolis.
