Seniors Adi Pynenberg and Brian Hilts have been named to the 2007 D3football.com All-North Region team. Pynenberg received First Team honors, while Hilts was a Third Team selection.
Pynenberg (left) was a First Team pick for the second consecutive season after starting all 13 games at linebacker. He was named the North Coast Athletic Conference Defensive Player of the Year in 2006 and 2007 and was a 2007 Gagliardi Trophy finalist. Pynenberg set the Wabash single season record for tackles this season, recording 168. His 91 unassisted stops and 77 assists were also top marks for a Little Giant defender. He finished with 26-1/2 tackles for losses, also a single season record. Pynenberg also posted a career-best eight sacks in 2007 and had three interceptions, two forced fumbles and a fumble recovery. He set career records for total tackles (451), unassisted tackles (245), assists (206), and tackles for losses (73-1/2) while starting all 45 games of his career.
Hilts (right) earned All-Region honors for the first time in his career. A two-time All-NCAC selection and First Team pick this year, Hilts was also a semi-finalist for the Draddy Trophy. He started three seasons at left tackle, helping the 2007 Little Giant offense to single-season records for passing attempts (450) and completions (294) and the second-highest passing yardage in school history (3,700).
Seventy-six players were selected to the All-North Region team by area sports information directors and the D3football.com staff. A total of 183 nominations were submitted.
