All-America Honors Continue For Pynenberg

The Associated Press Little All-America Team was announced Thursday afternoon. Wabash senior linebacker Adi Pynenberg earned Second Team honors among players from NCAA Division II, Division III, and the NAIA.

Pynenberg is the first Wabash player to be selected to the AP Little All-America team since tight end Ryan Short '03 earned First Team honors in 2002. Pynenberg was recently named to the American Football Coaches Association All-America team, making him the first three-time All-American in Wabash football history.

Pynenberg is ninth in the nation in tackles for losses with an average of two per game going into the final week of the NCAA Division III season. He is ninth in solo tackles (7 per game) and is 16th in total tackles (12.9 per game) Pynenberg set the Wabash single-season record for total tackles, making 168 stops. His 26-1/2 tackles for losses this year were also a Wabash single-season best.

A D3football.com Honorable Mention All-America pick in 2005 and Second Team selection in 2006, Pynenberg secured a place on the 2007 AFCA and AP All-America teams after setting the Wabash career record for tackles with 451. He also tops the Little Giant lists for unassisted tackles (245), assists (206), and tackles for losses (73-1/2).

Pynenberg was named team co-captain in 2006 and 2007. He led the Little Giants to three consecutive NCAC titles and NCAA playoff berths in 2005 and 2007. This year's team won its first two playoff games before losing at UW-Whitewater, one of the two teams playing for the DIII national title this Saturday. He was a 2007 Gagliardi Trophy finalist and was selected to play in the 2007 Aztec Bowl before declining the offer due to academic commitments at the College.

A psychology major with a 3.58 cumulative GPA, Pynenberg was also a two-time ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District V Second Team pick.
