Mosier Takes Title at Midwest Wrestling Open

Junior Stephen Mosier finished 4-0 at the Midwest Crowne Wrestling Mats Open to win the 165-pound title. He was one of three Little Giant grapplers to place at the event.

Mosier (right) opened with a pin 3:19 into his match with Zach Fears before advancing to take a 7-2 victory over Jamal Lawrence from Northern Illinois. Mosier captured the championship with a pin a the 4:52 mark of his final match against Bryan Everett.

Graham Youngs placed fourth at 149 pounds. The freshman won his first match against Kevin McMahon with a pin in the final minute of the bout. Youngs lost to Purdue's Kevin Lipp in the second round, but came back with a 9-2 victory over Nick Jones of Evanston in the semifinals. Lawrence Manns of Harper won in the finals against Youngs.

Bryan Hugo added a fourth place finish at 174 pounds. He lost his first bout before rallying for a 4-1 victory over Glen Hart in the second round. A 4-0 defeat at the hands of Frank Savegnago of Elmhurst in the finals completed the competition for the sophomore.

Several Wabash wrestlers also competed at the Midlands Invitational at Northwestern University. Rob Arnett won the only match for the Little Giants, competing against some of the top Division I teams in the nation.

Wabash competes at the Knox College Duals on Saturday.
