Late Goal Not Enough as Wabash Soccer Falls in Homecoming Match

A goal by Oberlin in the 83rd minute of the match ended any chances for a Homecoming win by Wabash as the Yoemen won 2-1 decision at Mud Hollow Field on Saturday afternoon.

Oberlin started the scoring in the 37th minute with a goal by Phil Kreniske to give the Yoemen a 1-0 lead. Wabash tied the match in the 76th minute when freshman Aaron Kunkle (Ft. Wayne, IN/Concordia Lutheran) snared a loose ball and broke through the defense to score his fifth goal of the season a knot the game at 1-1.

But seven minutes later the Yeomen scored the game-winner as Richard Braithwaite took a pass from Max Hellerman to put the final goal in the back of the net.

Wabash outshot Oberlin 22-11, putting seven shots on net. Freshman goalkeeper Will McAdams (Carmel, IN/Carmel) made seven saves in the match.

The Little Giants drop to 5-6 with the loss, 0-3 in the North Coast Athletic Conference. Wabash will play in-state and conference rival Earlham Colleg on Wednesday afternoon at Mud Hollow Field at 4 p.m.
