Wabash College will host its Fine Arts Scholarship Celebration March 13-15. Students participating in this event will be considered for our Fine Arts Scholarship which could be worth up to $12,500 per year.
Students need to report to the Fine Arts Center by 4:00 PM on March 13th for registration. Following registration, scholarship candidates will join Wabash faculty and current students for dinner. After dinner, everyone will attend workshops and demonstrations led by Wabash faculty.
For those students participating in the Fine Arts Celebration, please remember to submit all required materials listed below. If you wish to submit materials in advance, materials should be mailed to the Admissions Office, Wabash College PO Box 352, Crawfordsville, IN 47933-0352.
Supporting Materials:
Visual Arts: Please bring your portfolio to campus for review. This portfolio should consist of at least ten works produced since your freshman year in high school with the majority of works from your junior and senior years. You will discuss your work in an interview with the Art Department faculty. In addition, candidates will be asked to do a brief exercise of drawing from life while on campus.
Creative Writing: Please send 8 pages (maximum) of your best work in poetry, fiction, creative nonfiction, and/or playwriting. All material should be typed and double-spaced. Materials must be received no later than February 25, 2008. Candidates will discuss their work in an interview with a professor as part of the review process.
Music: Candidates in music should be prepared to perform pieces in two or three contrasting styles. Vocalists should prepare at least one piece not in English. The Music Department will provide an accompanist if needed, but you must contact Peter Hulen (hulenp@wabash.edu) to set this up in advance. As part of the audition, candidates will be interviewed by members of the Music Department faculty.
Theater/Film: Candidates should be prepared to work with Theater Department faculty in an informal workshop setting focused on the acting process. Students interested in design and/or technical theater should bring a portfolio with evidence of previous work (production photos, sketches, renderings, light plots, etc.). Students interested in film should bring a DVD of an original short film or selected clips from original film projects. Candidates will be interviewed by members of the Theater Department faculty.
The Fine Arts Celebration will be held in conjunction with the 115th Honor Scholarship Weekend. Students may participate in both programs.
