Johnson Named Conference Defensive Player of the Week

It was only one hit, but it may have made the difference in the game. Junior defensive back Stu Johnson (West Lafayette, IN/Harrison) has been named the North Coast Athletic Conference Defensive Player of the Week. Johnson earned the honor after making four tackles and one pass breakup in Saturday's 24-14 win over Allegheny.

It was the pass breakup that was the difference-maker in the game. Johnson hit Allegheny tight end Luke Pelger on third down with the Gators trailing by three, knocking a nearly-completed pass loose and forcing the Gators to punt.

The Little Giants marched down the field for the final score of the game on the next possession to win their fourth game of the season and 11th in a row.

Johnson is the third Wabash player to earn recognition from the conference this year. Junior running back Chris Morris (Zionsville, IN/Zionsville) was the Offensive Player of the Week for his efforts against Kalamazoo Colege, and junior linebacker Nick Fanelli (Crown Point, IN/Lake Central) was the Defensive Player of the Week after the win against Earlham.
