Three Wrestlers Post Perfect Records in Monon Bell Duals Efforts

Wabash wrestlers Rob Arnett and Stephen Mosier both finished 4-0 in Monon Bell Classic Duals competition Saturday at Chadwick Court, while teammate Michael Burke was 3-0 for the day. The Little Giants finished sixth overall in the final team standings. (View photos from Saturday's matches.)

Arnett and Mosier each picked up wins against Ohio Northern University in the second round of the duals after Wabash received a bye in the opening round. Arnett scored a 6-2 win against Joe Fisher at heavyweight while Mosier was a 9-7 winner over Leon Allen at 165 pounds. Burke defeated Drew Seick 11-2 at 184 pounds in the Little Giants' 37-10 loss to ONU.

Mosier (left) posted a 12-10 victory in round three against Lincoln's Travis Johnson, part of an all-star team put together to replace a last-minute loss of one of the 12 teams schedule to participate in the duals. Arnett shut out Allan Lick 4-0, while Burke received a forfeit in his weight class. Keith Closson pinned Cole Pittsford of Tri-State 4:42 into their 133-pound bout. Cody Johnson also picked up a pin over Mike Tees from Tri-State at the 2:39 mark of their 197-pound match. Jared Tribbett, Dan Brown, and Robert Beeler each received forfeits.

Wabash beat Rose-Hulman 46-6 by winning nine of the ten matches against the Fighting Engineers. Mosier scored a 6-4 victory over Tyler Goble, while Burke pinned Greg Williams 2:59 into their bout. Arnett picked up a 7-4 victory in the final match. Robert Beeler picked up a major victory with a 16-3 win over Christopher Duncan. Stephen Iles, Closson, Tribbett, Quincy Dotson, and Johnson each received forfeits.

The Little Giants lost 23-21 in the final round to Mount St. Joseph's. Mosier pinned Jake Waldbilling at 3:00 in the final 165-pound match of the day. Arnett recorded his fourth win of the day with a pin against Patrick Thatcher at 1:08. Tribbett beat Dave Harris 7-2, while Johnson was an 11-5 winner over Patrick Trustes. Bryan Hugo defeated Heath Lukas 7-2 at 174 pounds. 

The Little Giants will travel to Wheaton College Friday and Saturday to participate in the annual Pete Willson-Wheaton Invitational.
