E. Scott Smalstig '88

Being a husband and father of two, as well as the Vice President of Fund Development for Meridian Services, a regional specialty healthcare provider in Indiana, Smalstig has many interests competing for his time. Wabash always remains at the top of that list. Smalstig has served the last three years on the NAWM Board and chaired the recruitment/admissions committee. He delivers the keynote address on a regular basis at Wabash’s Top 10 Day. He actively recruits students to Wabash from central Indiana, has helped organize Monon Bell gatherings and telecast parties, hosts marketing immersion students, helps organize local WABASH Day efforts, and served on the steering committee responsible for fund raising efforts for the new Phi Delta Theta house. Smalstig came to Wabash as a Lilly Scholar from Carmel, started his career at Eli Lilly before leading a media sales firm for 14 years, and becoming a partner in the advertising agency of Joseph David Advertising. Smalstig is married to Tara, an attorney whom he affectionately calls ‘in-house counsel,’ coaches Madison, 11, and Gehrig, 9 (Wabash Class of 2024), in every sport he can, is president of his Little League Board, and serves on the boards of College Mentors for Kids and LACES (Life and Change Experienced through Sport). Smalstig has been a member of the Wabash’s 1832 Society.
