Freshman tennis player Luke Bielawski picked up his seventh win at number two singles for Wabash with victories over Ohio Wesleyan and the University Chicago Saturday. The Little Giants recorded an 8-1 team win against OWU before falling 7-2 to Chicago.
Bielawski lost one game in a 6-1, 6-0 victory against Brandon Luttinger in the morning session. He defeated Lado Bakhutashvili 6-4, 6-3 for one of only two individual wins for Wabash against the Maroons. Will Pelak won the first set of number one singles against Chicago 7-6 before losing the second 5-7. He led Will Zhang 2-1 in the third set of their match before an injury forced Zhang to retire from the match to give Pelak the win.
Pelak scored a 6-1, 6-2 win against Adrian Barker from Ohio Wesleyan at first singles. Jay Horrey was a 6-1, 6-1 winner at third singles. Ryan Tennyson picked up na 7-5, 6-1 win in the fourth flight, while Ryan Waldon earned a 6-3, 6-2 win in the sixth.
Horrey and Bielawski combined for an 8-1 victory in first doubles' action against OWU's Brandon Luttinger and Garrett Paknis. Pelak and Tennyson were 8-2 winners at second doubles. Luke Robbins and Waldon joined for an 8-6 win in the third flight of doubles' play.
Wabash improves to 2-1 in the North Coast Athletic Conference with the win over Ohio Wesleyan. The Little Giants move to 4-3 overall. Wabash will travel to California for its next matches as part of a spring break training trip.
