Soccer Team Wins Second Straight with 5-1 Win against Hiram

The Wabash College soccer took a 5-1 victory over Hiram College on Saturday afternoon at Mud Hollow Field.

It was Senior Day at Wabash for the soccer team, and the senior shined. Fourth-year player Todd Brown (Hammond, IN/Hammond) got an assist on a goal by freshman forward Chase Lamm (Brownsburg, IN/Brownsburg) to give Wabash a 1-0 lead. After Hiram tied the score at 1-1, it was the underclassmen's turn to take control. Freshman Aaron Kunkle (Ft. Wayne, IN/Concordia Lutheran) took a pass from junior Cody Lawson (Carmel, IN/Carmel) and scored the eventual game-winner in the 22nd minute of play. A goal from junior Sean McNulty (Ft. Wayne, IN/Bishop Luers), the North Coast Athletic Conference Player of the Week, put Wabash up 3-1 at the half.

Lamm scored his second goal in the 72nd minute before senior Carlos Aguirre (Indianapolis, IN/Ben Davis) scored the final goal of his career at home. Aguirre took a pass from Lawson and Lamm and blasted it into the back of the net to give the Little Giants their final goal of the game.

Senior goalie Graham Bailey (Evansville, IN/Evansville North) earned the start and made five saves in the match. Sophomore John Taggart (Carmel, IN/Hampton Roads Academy) was in goal in the second half for Wabash to share the victory.

Along with Aguirre, Brown, and Bailey, fellow seniors Chris Buresh (LaPorte, IN/LaPorte) and Casey Gioielli (Cincinnati, OH/Indian Hill) were honored at halftime.

The victory moves Wabash to 8-8 on the season, 3-5 in the NCAC.
