Zimmer, Simkus, Brock Named to All-NCAC Team

Andrew Zimmer earned First Team All-North Coast Athletic Conference honors for the second consecutive season, while fellow senior Gary Simkus earned Second Team honors. Sophomore Aaron Brock was named to the Honorable Mention team.

Zimmer led the Little Giants and was third in the NCAC in scoring with an average of 17 points a game. He finished fifth in rebounding in the league after leading Wabash with 7.4 boards per contest. Zimmer was second in the NCAC in blocked shots, averaging 1.25 per game. Zimmer was  fourth in free throw shooting percentage (82.4) and ninth in field goal percentage (51.2 percent). He scored a career-best 36 points against Oberlin, along with a career-high 14 rebounds. Zimmer was a pre-season Honorable Mention All-America pick by Street and Smith's College Basketball Annual after earning First Team All-NCAC honors at the end of the 2006-07 season.

 

 

Simkus received Second Team honors for the first time in his career after averaging 12 points and 4.9 rebounds a game as a senior. He returned to the Wabash lineup after missing the second half of the 2006-07 season while studying in Spain. He led the Little Giants in minutes played as a senior, averaging 32.1 minutes per contest while starting all 28 games for the Little Giants. Simkus was 16th in the league in scoring and 18th in rebounding. He shot 51.4 percent from the field (eighth-best in the NCAC). Simkus scored a season-high 20 points during the regular season game at Wooster, equaling his career-best effort from 2005.

Brock was named to the Honorable Mention team for the first time after averaging 11.1 points and 5.1 rebounds for Wabash. He averaged 19.2 points over his final five games of the season, boosted by a career-best 29 points against Wooster in the conference tournament semifinal game. Brock was 17th in the NCAC in rebounding and fourth in blocked shots (1.18 blocks per game).

The trio helped Wabash to an 18-10 record overall, the mosts wins since the 1999-200 season. The Little Giants advanced to the championship game of the NCAC Tournament after finishing fifth in the regular season standings with a conference record of 10-6.
