Little Giant Harriers Take Fourth at NCAC Championships

The Wabash College cross country team finished fourth at the annual North Coast Athletic Conference Men's Cross Country Championship race, held Saturday at Wittenberg University.

Wabash finished with 112 points. Allegheny, sweeping the conference championships by winning both the men's and women's races, scored 47 points. Defending champion Kenyon had 49 points, while Denison was third with 112 points. Wooster (129) was fifth, while Oberlin (140), Earlham (151), Hiram (181), Wittenberg (256), and Ohio Wesleyan (264) rounded out the team scoring.

Senior Mark Sherer (Valparaiso, IN/Valparaiso) earned First Team All-NCAC honors, finishing sixth in the individual results with a time of 25:51. Junior Dan Ruge (Chesterton, IN/Chesterton) took a spot as a member of the All-NCAC Second Team with a 12th-place finish (26:13).

Junior Dan Sweet (West Bloomfield, MI/Culver Military Academy) finished 26th (27:22). Freshman Peter Fenimore (Bexley, OH/Bexley) took 38th place (28:08), while fellow newcomer Charles Wohlhuter (Wheaton, IL/Wheaton-Warrenville South) was 44th (28:29).

Senior Jesus Campos (Philadelphia, PA/Pharr-San Juan Alamo North, Texas) was 47th (28.39) and sophomore Zach Eichel (Columbus, IN/Columbus North) finished 48th (28:41) to round out the scoring for the Little Giants.

The Little Giants improved over their predicted finish by one place. Wabash was picked to finish fifth in the coaches pre-season poll. Wabash will run in NCAA Division III Great Lakes Regional at Ohio Northern University on Saturday, November 16.
