Tennis Team Ready for Kerry Seward Tournament

Seven teams will travel to Wabash College this weekend to participate in the annual Kerry Seward Memorial Tennis Tournament. Albion, Coe, Vincennes, Transylvania, Ohio Northern, Hanover, Carthage, and Wabash will all begin competition Saturday at 9 a.m. at the Collett Tennis Center on the Wabash campus.

The tournament will begin with a round of doubles play on the indoor courts before moving outside for singles play around 1 p.m. The tournament will go back to doubles flights around 6:30 p.m. Sunday will feature the semifinals and finals rounds to conclude the tournament.

The annual Kerry Seward Tournament is named in honor of the former Little Giant and Crawfordsville High School tennis and basketball star. Seward earned six Little State tennis honors while leading the Little Giants to the team title of the Little State tournament as a junior. He finished 20-5 in his senior season on his way to a 46-21 singles career record. He was also part of the Wabash basketball team that won the 1982 NCAA Division III national championship. Seward was killed in an automobile accident shortly after graduating from Wabash in 1983.
