Jay Hopler, winner of the Yale Younger Poets Award and the GLCA New Writers Award, will read from his poetry at 4:15 p.m. on Thursday, April 3 in Center Hall, room 216. A reception and book signing will follow the reading in Center Hall, room 206.
Hopler’s work has appeared most recently in The Iowa Review, The Journal, The Kenyon Review, Mid-American Review, The New Yorker, Pleiades, and The Seattle Review. His book of poems, Green Squall, was chosen by Louise Gluck as the winner of the 2005 Yale Series of Younger Poets Award. Green Squall was published by Yale University Press in April 2006 and has received several awards and honors, including a 2006 Florida Book Award [Silver Medal], a 2006 ForeWord Magazine Book of the Year Award [Bronze Medal] and the 2007 Great Lakes Colleges Association New Writers Award. He is Assistant Professor of Creative Writing/Poetry at University of South Florida.
Hopler’s reading is free and open to the public.
