Wabash took two victories in Springfield, Ohio Saturday, defeating the host Wittenberg University Tigers 7-2 in North Coast Athletic Conference action in the first match. The Little Giants followed with a 6-3 win over Cedarville University in the afternoon.
Regionally-ranked freshman Will Pelak (right) picked up two more wins, defeating Wittenberg's Brad Seymour 6-1, 6-2 in the morning followed by a 6-4, 2-6, 10-4 victory over Kevin Furst from Cedarville. Luke Bielawski improved to 10-0 at number two singles with wins over Andrew Young from Wittenberg (6-4, 6-0) and Dan Ballard from Cedarville (6-1, 7-6 (3), 10-5).
Ryan Tennyson (below left) picked up two wins in singles' action Saturday. The freshman scored a 6-3, 7-6 (8-6) win against Wittenberg's Rob Lehner, then picked up a 6-2, 0-6, 10-8 victory against Brent Martin in the second match.
Junior Ryan Waldon defeated Dave Janks from Wittenberg 6-3, 6-0 at fifth singles, while Luke Robbins was a 6-4, 6-1 winner at sixth singles against Andy Lamb in the first match.
Wabash took two of three doubles' matches from Wittenberg. Jay Horrey and Sean Clerget combined for an 8-3 win against Lehner and Craig Lods. Waldon and Pelak scored an 8-0 victory against Young and Daniel McNeely.
The Little Giants swept doubles' play agains the Yellow Jackets in the afternoon. Horrey and Clerget were 8-5 winners in the second flight, while Waldon and Pelak took an 8-6 victory at third doubles. Bielawski and Tennyson posted an 8-2 win at first doubles.
Wabash improves to 9-9 with the win and is 4-2 in the NCAC. The Little Giants will compete in the Great Lakes Colleges' Association Tennis Tournament April 11-12 at the College of Wooster.
