Attention Seniors: Please review the following information in preparation for the 2008 Commencement Weekend.
Wednesday, April 16 — Friday, May 2
Check-Out Card Pick Up
Pick up your checkout card from Terri Fyffe in the Business Office in Center Hall. Each senior must return his completed forms and checkout card to the Deans’ Office no later than Wednesday, May 7, 2008.
Students need to be aware of the policy regarding fulfillment of Senior Requirements.
Candidates for the degree who fail to complete all of these requirements in a timely fashion will not be allowed to participate in Commencement, nor will their transcripts be released.
Friday, May 9
8 a.m. - 5 p.m. — Senior Art Exhibition in the Eric Dean Gallery of the Fine Arts Center. Graduating senior art majors Dan Gillespie, Mike Russell, and Jay Leatherman display their work.
12 noon — Faculty-Staff Luncheon in the Allen Athletics and Recreation Center. Enjoy good conversation with faculty and staff, and join the Board of Directors of the National Association of Wabash Men as it honors service to the College. Cost for the buffet meal is $5.00.
Saturday, May 10
8 a.m. — Deans’ Senior Breakfast in the Knowling Fieldhouse in the Allen Center (note location change). REQUIRED — Graduating seniors and members of the faculty are invited to breakfast with Deans Gary Phillips and Tom Bambrey ’68. The starting time will be strictly observed, and dress for the breakfast is collared shirt and slacks.
9 a.m. — Commencement Rehearsal in the College Chapel. REQUIRED — Seniors Must Attend. Seniors will move directly from the Deans’ Breakfast to the rehearsal. The starting time will be strictly observed.
Saturday morning events for families of graduating seniors, alumni, and other visitors:

8 a.m. - 12 noon — Fitness Center is open in the Allen Athletics and Recreation Center
10 a.m. - 4 p.m. — Bookstore is open in the Lower Level of the Frank Hugh Sparks Center
1 p.m. - 3 p.m. — Wabash Center for Teaching and Learning in Theology and Religion Open House.
2:30 p.m. — Phi Beta Kappa Initiation in Lovell Lecture Room, Baxter Hall
4 p.m. - 5:30 p.m. — President’s Reception at The Elston Homestead, 400 East Pike Street. Join President and Mrs. White for a celebration in honor of the Class of 2008 and their families.
6 p.m. — Class of ’08 Commencement Banquet in the Knowling Fieldhouse. This come-as-you-are meal is for alumni, parents, students and their families. Cost for the banquet is $15 per person.
Sunday, May 11
Seniors and Faculty must arrive at 10:30 am for Baccalaureate and 2:00 pm for Commencement. It takes 30 minutes to line up seniors by name. Be on time and quickly find your place. Seniors march in alphabetical order—led by the two Commencement speakers and followed by the men who are receiving academic honors (also in alphabetical order). At the head of the procession is the Marshal, Professor Tobey Herzog, who will direct the seating.
8:30 a.m. - 10 a.m. — Cap and Gown Pick Up in the Chapel Basement. Seniors obtain their caps and gowns (provided free by the college). Return caps, gowns, and hoods (received during Commencement) to the same place immediately following Commencement. If you wish to purchase a hood, place an order with the Bookstore. You may keep the tassel from your mortar board.
10:30 a.m. — Formation of the Academic Procession for Baccalaureate on the sidewalk East of Center Hall
In the event of rain, the procession will form in Baxter Hall.
11 a.m. — Baccalaureate Chapel in the Wabash College Chapel. In commemoration off the College’s 175th year, the sermon will be given by John Van Nuys ’83, pastor of Wabash Avenue Presbyterian Church, whose members founded Wabash.
12 noon — Commencement Buffet in the Knowling Fieldhouse. A buffet lunch will be served at a cost of $12 for graduating seniors and their families.
12 p.m. - 2:30 p.m. — Bookstore open in the Lower Level of the Frank Hugh Sparks Center.
1:30 p.m. — Legacy Photographs will be taken on the sidewalk east of Center Hall. Seniors who are legacies are invited to have their picture taken with family members at no charge.
2 p.m. — Formation of the Academic Procession for Commencement on the sidewalk east of Center Hall
In the event of rain, the procession will form in the lobby of the Allen Athletics Center.
2:30 p.m. — 170th Commencement Ceremony on the Wabash College Mall. In the event of rain, the ceremony will be held in Chadwick Court. Complimentary photographs will be taken of your son as he receives his diploma and will be mailed to parents after Commencement.
3:30 p.m. — Reception for the Class of 2008 in the Great Hall of the Sparks Center
Join President and Mrs. White for a reception in honor of the Wabash College Class of 2008.
6:00 p.m. — Ribbon Cutting Ceremony for the Wabash Center for Teaching and Learning in Theology and Religion.
