Sophomore Sam Russell rallied for a second-day score of 75 to finish tied for 17th individually at the 2008 Nye Intercollegiate Golf Invitational, hosted by the College of Wooster Saturday and Sunday at the Wooster Country Club. The Little Giants finished ninth out of 12 teams at the event.
Russell (right) shot an 82 on the opening day to finish with a 157 overall. Jordan Vice tied for 40th (83-84--167). Luke Moton took 42nd (81-87--168). Jake German completed the scoring for Wabash with a 173 (88-85).
Wabash finished with 663 strokes. Ohio Wesleyan University won the tournament witha 603. Olivet was second (612), followed by Denison (618), Allegheny (618), Wooster (629), Wittenberg (632), Muskingum (648), and Notre Dame College of Ohio (660). Hiram (681), Kenyon (700), and Oberlin (720) rounded out the team scoring.
The Little Giants and Rose-Hulman will compete in the spring portion of the Giant-Engineer Match Play Classic Wednesday afternoon at the Crawfordsville Country Club.
